1. Find God’s Hidden Treasure
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” – Matthew 13:44
The word of God is a loving gift to humanity.
Like His grace, this holy gift from heaven gives us a treasure trove of wisdom, correction, and truth.
The word also reveals God’s character of love, righteousness, and beauty.
Every time you go to the word, you can expect another revelation of God’s goodness.
So dive into His Word eagerly to find His perfect plan to know Jesus and make Him known to others.
2. Fulfill Your Ministry
“Now Ornan turned and saw the angel, and his four sons who were with him hid themselves, but Ornan continued threshing wheat.” – 1 Chronicles 21:20
David and Israel were punished for David’s sin of taking a census.
David sinned against God, and the people paid the price.
After a plague from the LORD killed seventy thousand men, King David is instructed to erect an altar at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Ornan sees the angel and his sons freak out and bolt.
But Ornan keeps on working.
“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” – 2 Timothy 4:5
There is spiritual activity all around us on a daily basis.
Activity like spiritual warfare, miracles, and God’s Spirit are moving in the hearts of men.
The question is, do you freak out and bolt?
Do you pretend that it’s not there?
Or, do you acknowledge the Lord’s presence and keep on doing His work?
Keep working, my friend, to glorify God, edify the church, and you will sense the Lord moving in your life.
3. Trust that God is Listening
“Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.” – 2 Chronicles 7:15
This promise from our Lord is a response to His people choosing to humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from their wicked ways. (2 Chron. 7:14)
So what does it take for God to answer our prayers?
We must confess He is Lord (Romans 10:9).
Is Jesus truly the Lord of your life?
Always remember, Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
He saved you at the cross.
He is your Lord every day.
“Every day I look to you to be the strength of my life. You’re the hope I hold on to. To be the strength of my life.”
Stay humble. Share your heart with Him. Go after His heart. Turn away from sin.
And He will answer your prayers.
4. Don’t Switch Out Gold for Bronze
“So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took everything. He also carried away the gold shields which Solomon had made. Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house.” – 2 Chronicles 12:9-10
We can only imagine the beauty of Solomon’s gold shields, the workmanship and the attention to detail that was created to glorify God.
Spiritually, we know that the shield of faith guards us against the fiery darts of the devil.
Ephesians 6:16 declares, “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
After the king of Egypt takes the gold shields, Rehoboam compromises.
He trades gold for bronze.
Tragically, Rehoboam reveals his heart.
I imagine he reasoned in his mind, “Oh bronze shields are ‘good enough.’ I don’t need to go to the trouble of making gold shields.”
Likewise, Rehoboam compromised his position with God, and His people and Israel rebelled against Him. (1 Kings 12:16)
For us, compromising the Word of God jeopardizes our position with Him.
“God will not wink at sin.” – Xavier Ries
We are called to love the LORD our God with all of our heart.
Half-hearted efforts yield lackluster fruits.
5. Let the Battle Belong to the Lord
“And when Judah looked around, to their surprise the battle line was at both front and rear; and they cried out to the Lord, and the priests sounded the trumpets.” – 2 Chronicles 13:14
You know the feeling of being surrounded by the enemy.
It seems, at the time, there’s no way out for you.
Bills in front of you, taxes behind you, debt on top of you, and the pressure to pay beneath you.
The only way to look is up.
“Help God,” is a perfect prayer in times like this.
The kingdom of Israel was divided between Judah and Israel.
Judah was warring with Israel.
Jeroboam, king of Israel rebelled against God.
But Abijah, the king of Judah stood with God.
When Judah found themselves surrounded by the enemy God gave them the victory.
Always remember, the battle belongs to the Lord!
“Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:47
6. Be Sensitive to the Holy Spirit
“Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.” – Acts 16:6,7
When the Apostle Paul was traveling through modern day Turkey, the Holy Spirit was calling him to Europe.
He had ideas of traveling through Asia, but he was directed to head northwest.
Paul was so sensitive to the Holy Spirit that he was able to follow the Lord’s leading on the spot!
Listen up.
Don’t believe for a minute that God is far from you.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:20
In the same way, the Apostle Paul heard from God; you can as well.
First, make sure you are baptized in the Holy Spirit.
If you are not, then ask right now.
Second, devote yourself to reading the Bible every day.
Third, pray and ask the Lord to speak to your heart and to reveal His perfect will for you.
