7 Golden Nuggets from God’s Word That Will Make You Feel Amazing

Mar 9, 2015 | 24 comments

Dear Reader: When it comes to God’s Word, many have a favorite scripture, or golden nugget, that ministers to them. We would love to hear what your favorite golden nugget is, and what special meaning it holds for you. You can share in the comments at the end of this article.

The Latrobe gold nugget is one of the largest clusters of gold in the world. Compare this to God’s Word, which is said to be more precious than the finest gold.

One of the few decent reality shows on TV is “Gold Rush,” where various teams of miners dig for gold in the Yukon.

It has dramatic highs and lows, sharing moments of exhilarating discovery with expensive failure.

The level of zeal by which determined men in the cold North bulldoze, excavate, and mine deep into the earth for flecks of gold is extraordinary.

This entire process fascinates me when I think of it in terms of God’s Word.

First, God’s Word is far more precious than gold.

Second, you don’t have to mine for it at all.

Sure, we study God’s Word, research historic value in God’s Word, and sometimes dig for the “deep meaning” of God’s Word.

But the fact remains, His golden nuggets sit right on the surface.

Third, those who pick them up and cash them in, will find their daily lives enriched forever.

My wife and I sat down and came up with a short list of golden nuggets that bring special meaning to our lives.

I hope that by the end of this blog, you’ll want to share your golden nugget of God’s Word with the rest of our readers. We’ll all be blessed.

You, God, and His Precious Living Word

God’s Word is the very manna of our existence. Jesus is “the Word.” It is our sustenance. It feeds us daily. It’s alive and vibrant, as powerful today as it was 2,000 years ago.

As we harvest the scriptures, we all find ourselves uniquely married to a part of God’s Word because it has special meaning to us.

Here are a few “golden nuggets” that are very special to me, as well as an explanation of their significance:

1.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

It’s the bedrock of God’s love for us and His relationship with man.

2.  “And it shall come to pass, that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21)

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

It doesn’t get any simpler than these two verses. They sum up the saving power of Jesus, stripping away all the complications to the question, “How do I get saved?”

3.  “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.’” (Gen. 12:1-3)

In other words, those who bless Israel will be blessed. Those who curse Israel will be cursed. We have seen this promise/warning played out throughout history, and to this very day.

Again, the simple directness of God’s power cannot be understated, nor can the power of God’s blessings on the land of Israel and its people be overstated.

Israel is a blessed nation. Israel’s friends are blessed. Countries that curse the Jewish nation do not and will not prosper. It’s a fact of God’s covenant with the Hebrew people.

4.  “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

I take this scripture personally. I feel anything I write, led by the Spirit, promotes Jesus and God’s Word.

Bloggers are missionaries, spreading God’s message of salvation through the written word.

And the Word that goes out does not return void. And the Word that goes out accomplishes whatever purpose God wants to accomplish.

Ever wonder just who reads these blogs? The person whom God intended to read it.

5.  “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

As parents we can attest to this truth. Our “little boys” are now strong godly men, and are continually being blessed by the Lord.

Two of My Wife’s Favorite Nuggets

6.  “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13)

We don’t have to guess or hope we are going to heaven. God wants us to KNOW it. He doesn’t hide it.

7.  “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Cor. 13:14)

This verse shows us the roles that the Trinity plays in our lives:

  • Jesus showed us grace by dying on the cross.
  • It was God’s love for us that sent Jesus to die in our place.
  • When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we have the constant fellowship of the Holy Spirit. He lives in us. He teaches us. He guides us.

Do You Have ‘the Color’ of God’s Word in Your Life?

Back in the Gold Rush days, the precious metal was often referred to as “the color.” (i.e., miners are only interested in “the color”)

Fascinating then, how Jesus and His Word “color” our lives:

  • “Though our sins be red like crimson, He makes Them white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18)
  • “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures…” (Psalm 23)
  • “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.” (Psalms 52:8)
  • “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” (Gen. 9:13)

God wants the best for you. He wants your life to have “color.”

This is the majesty of God.

This is the beauty of God.

This is the love of God.

Treasure His golden nuggets, for they will bring you spiritual riches.

Love God, and let His Word be the Gold Standard in your life!

Do you have a golden nugget to share? We’d love to hear from you.

And let us not be wary in well doing: for in due season we will reap if we do not go weary.
Galatians 6:9. One of my favorite verses, it reminds me that it is my duty to serve my Lord and others as He commanded. I serve others with a cheerful heart, very rewarding and it feels great!

Romans 8:28 stands out for me, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

This nugget is blessed assurance that no matter my circumstance, God has the ability and heart to make good come from it because I love Him and belong to Him.

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘ I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ”
At a time when I was searching for absolute truth and the true meaning of life, I found truth embodied in the Person of Jesus Christ Himself. Having received him as my personal Saviour, I entered into the abundant life that He promises to all who would do likewise. His Word is nourishment to my entire being.

Ephesians 3:17-19 …that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God….

I love this exhortation from Paul, if we all can comprehend the extent to which God loves us, how different would we respond to Jesus and His great act of love at the cross?

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Many times we can read in the Old Testament of how visible Gods love and protection was and is for His people. Sometimes I have thought to myself, “wow, to see God do such miracles, right before their eyes, then they turn away so easily and forget Him and what He has done.
THEN, I have to look at myself, my life, my time and how easily I get distracted. I can look back and see the miracles in mine and my families lives, yet sometimes I don’t thank God or praise Him enough for His mercy, love and grace and what He has provided just for me!
    “The nugget”,
I have the Holy Spirit living in me, God Himself, constantly leading, guiding and correcting me…..
The Old Testament people didn’t have the Holy Spirit living “within”. Only the leader or prophet, or one that God chose to lead the people or give a message was led by the Spirit.
