It’s the beginning of the year and so it’s naturally time for many of us to create new year’s resolutions.
Some people don’t like new year’s resolutions while other people swear by them.
I think new year’s resolutions can be great if we get our priorities right.
As committed Christians, we should all make our first and most important resolution for 2014 to put God in first place and to keep Him there all year-long.
It is definitely a priority on my list!
3 Easy Steps For You To Follow in 2014
There are a few things involved to make sure that we are putting God first in our lives:
1. We need to tithe.
We are to invest 10% into God’s storehouse through paying tithes on all income.
There are few things that show that you trust in God and in His promises more than giving Him a portion of what’s in your wallet.
It’s not that God wants your money, He wants your heart.
When you tithe, you are acknowledging that it is God who is providing for you and that you are continuing to trust Him to provide for you in the future.
Remember, trusting God when you don’t feel like it means you’re putting your faith where your heart is. Tweet
2. We are to build a closer relationship with God.
You can do this by reading the bible and by meditating on His Word day and night.
When you put your head on the pillow before you go to sleep, try to think of a bible verse and to think about what it means to.
It’s a great way to fall asleep with God being the last thing on your mind.
3. We are to live a holy lifestyle.
We are to put God’s values before our own. In other words, we are to decrease, while God increases (in us).
Look at Jesus as an example and avoid doing things that are contradictory to God’s Word.
Don’t Get Distracted
There are distractions all around us daily.
We can keep God in first place by making it a habit to commune with Him as soon as we wake up in the morning. Start and end every day with prayer.
Also, speak to Him throughout the day.
Once we put and keep God first, life will become more manageable for us. He will keep us at peace through life’s storms.
God will give us the desires of our heart as long as He is first in our lives. Tweet
Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
What are you thoughts on new year’s resolutions?
Personally, I like New Year’s resolutions. I think there’s something about starting a new year that helps us to think that we have a fresh start. Like you said Wendelin, as long as we have the right New Year’s resolutions like putting God first, then everything else is going to fall into place.
Thanks for a great blog post 🙂
