How to Know if You Are Trusting God

How to Know if You Are Trusting God

“He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” – Matthew 27:43 (NLT)

The religious leaders who had crucified Jesus and hung Him on the cross to die were mocking Him.

They assumed that because God did not come down from Heaven and remove Jesus from the cross, He really was not His only begotten Son.

They assumed that since Jesus was even on the cross in the first place, that He really was not the foretold Messiah.

A Question For You…

When you encounter suffering, when you find yourself right in the middle of a storm, do you assume the same as these religious leaders?

Do you assume the Lord has forgotten about you or doesn’t really love you because you’re suffering right now and in pain?

Jesus Christ came to this earth for a greater purpose; for a predestined plan that these men of religious law could not even begin to understand.

My question for you today is this: are you leaning on God’s understanding today or you own?

When God Wants You in the Storm

Sometimes God’s perfect will for our lives is to stay in the storm a little longer. We may not realize it, but His timing is perfect!

Sometimes God’s perfect will for our lives does hit us exactly where it hurts, but do not mistake these trials, tests and tribulations as fluctuations of God’s love and predestined purpose for you.

Your Heavenly Father loves you so much that He will allow you to walk into the fire.

He loves you so much that He will chasten you, mold you and completely transform you in ways He sees fit.

Our level of comfort does not distinguish the level of God’s love for us brothers and sisters!

Key Takeaway

We must strive to be content regardless of what state we’re in; regardless if we’re in a season of laughing or in a season of weeping, in a season of waiting or a season when a promise is being fulfilled.

It is because God loves you so much that He has you exactly where you are right now.

So no matter what season that Lord has you in right now, trust in His sovereignty and faithfulness today.

He will give you strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and His glorious light for the way.

I love this blog post because this is something that I struggle with myself. Trusting God is always easy when everything is fine and dandy, but when the finances are tight, when the health goes south, trusting God is easier said than done.

Yes! I agree completely! I love also how God puts us in these types of situations not only to refine us and mold us into His image, but also to show Himself faithful! To show us that we really are His beloved children and that He is truly actively working in our lives on such a personal level! Sometimes I’ve found the storms to (in a sense) be worth it. Sure, during them it’s hard and trying, but when you see that rainbow at the end, knowing that God got you through it and blessed you after it, it’s something definitely worth while. God bless you!

Thank you! God is so good! I’m really learning what trusting in the Lord with all my heart is truly about; not my will but His being done, no matter what comes my way. God bless you Juan!

Sometimes God’s perfect will for our lives is to
stay in the storm a little longer. We may not realize it, but His timing is
perfect! – I love this because it is so true! Many times we think we are ready
to move forward, but God says “NO you need to stay here a little bit
longer.” This of course challenges our Faith and Trust in God, but if we
are obedient then he refines us and makes our lives something so beautiful!

I totally agree with you Domi. I found that so many times the problem is that I think I heard God speak but it turns out it’s just my own voice or something else.

Do you have a way of being able to tell for sure whether the voice that you are hearing is from God or not?

I do believe that as Children of God, we have the Holy Spirit who dwell inside of us. The Holy Spirit convict us of wrong and even warns us when we have stepped out of God’s Will. John 14:15-17 says: “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

“but if we are obedient then he refines us and makes our lives something so beautiful!” I loved this Domi! That we really don’t labor in vain and have God enabling us to get through anything He allows us to go through. =] The verse He gave me today definitely paralleled what you said, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not!” – Galatians 6:9 God is so awesome! Thank you for your reply! =]

Very perceptive, we lack the eternal perspective that God has so we can not see what God knows is good for us which is why we are admonished not to trust in our own understanding.

I totally agree with you Alan, trusting in our own understanding is probably the biggest mistake we can make.

One of if not the main tool of our adversary is discouragement and to doubt God’s purposes and plans for our lives. The enemy has not changed his strategy at all. Remember what he said to Eve … has God really said? As we grow in intimate fellowship with God, we will develop a deeper trust of Him as Lord and Savior in our lives.

Thank you so much for your words of truth! It’s amazing how we will hear the Lord’s voice loud and clear, get confirmation in His Word, and then believe the lies of the enemy and start to doubt. I love how God is so faithful though, even when we are not, and how He blesses us simply because He loves us! We most definitely have an adversary out to seek, kill and destroy us, but with God on our side we will overcome! I love Romans 8:31, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Our God truly is all powerful and faithful to His Word! God bless you Lincoln!

One of the main reasons why I love reading your comments Lincoln is because I think you have the gift of encouragement. I think I learned that after the last time that I met you at the last TechServants meeting. I’m looking forward to reading your next blog post 🙂

What do you do when you keep asking mistakes, and yet you have another major decision to make? I have a hard time distinguishing between Gods will and my own….. Need help!

      Hi Lori,

Thank you so much for your comment. I sometimes struggle making the right decisions as well. The best advice I can give you is to ask God directly what His will is. And obey Him whatever He says. You will get answers when you read His Word the Bible, attend church, and seek God through prayer.

Biblical counseling will also help you understand God’s will and perspective. We have pastors here at CCSB available to pray with you over the phone or meet with you in person free of cost. You can make an appointment by calling 310-352-3333. They will be able to help you understand God’s Word and how to apply it to your everyday like and the decisions you have to make. =]

The Bible says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” James 1:5-8

So come boldly to God’s throne of grace believing by faith that He will direct your steps. He will show you what is His will and what is your will. God is your good shepherd and will show you which way to go when you ask Him to. So be encouraged! And remember, we all make mistakes. The key is to learn from those mistakes and not make those same choices again. We are all God’s work in progress. It may not happen overnight, but God will complete the good work He first began in you. =]
