God desires all Christians to live a holy lifestyle.
We are supposed to take the narrow path (i.e. God’s path) instead of the wide path (i.e. the world’s path).
I will discuss how to live a holy lifestyle while single and while married.
No one is perfect.
Everyone will sin and make mistakes. However, we should all take daily steps toward living a holy lifestyle.
Romans 12 – 13 Exhortations for Christian Living:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to the world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God…”
Part I: Living a Holy Lifestyle While Single
It is hard to be single!
However, it is easier to have a holy lifestyle while single in this sinful world.
God’s ways are easier than our ways because He knows every detail.
Women are supposed to be virtuous.
Men are to use Jesus as an example of how to live their life.
Your Environment
You need to be careful of the environments you place yourself in. Make sure you choose the right atmosphere.
For example, when you are at a club, ask yourself if you would want Jesus to find you in this place doing what you are doing.
If the answer is “no”, you know you are in the wrong place.
God will always give you a way out. Do not tempt yourself to sin.
You may need to remove certain friends from your life especially if they are a bad influence.
Remember, you are in this world, but not of this world!
Dating
Dating is a way to collect data on a potential spouse.
You are to build friendships during this time and get to know the other person.
Find out if the other person is spiritually compatible with you.
Are they saved?
What is their lifestyle?
You need to be equally yoked.
Women are to be virtuous and to let the man find them. Men, it is good for you to find a wife.
Do not let that other person become your god.
Keep God first and let God show you the right person for you.
Wait on the Lord.
Proverbs 31: 10 – 31 Praise of a Good Woman; The Virtuous Woman Proverb:
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life…”
Proverbs 25: 28:
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls”.
Part II: How to Live a Holy Lifestyle While Married
Once you are married, you are to continue living a holy lifestyle with your partner.
Keep God first.
Your partner should be second.
The husband is to be the priest of his home and to set a good example for the rest of his family.
He should love his wife like God loves the church!
Wives should love, encourage, and honor their husbands.
Pray Together
A family that prays together stays together.
Pray with your partner daily.
Have a designated prayer time set.
Make this a priority!
God should be in every aspect of your marriage.
Takeaway
God should be the foundation of your life whether you are single or married.
Trust God to send you the right person.
Ask God for wisdom and discernment to know when it is God’s will for you to be with the person that you are dating.
Take your vows seriously when you do marry someone.
Keep God first in your relationships.
Pray together to stay together.
Live a holy life no matter what stage of your life you are in!
Godliness is public.
You should stand out as a shining example of a Christian!
Let God show His glory in your life.
Let your light shine in the darkness of this world!
Halelujah!!! It is hard, but i know FOR A FACT. I will be happy with the end result. Because God, our Lord Jesus. Has my back 😉
Amen Mandi, God bless you!
Halleluyah……holiness is the narrow part to experience heaven on earth, may the Almighty God grant us the grace not to deceive ourselves no more.
if we can all embrace holiness as away of life, the world will be a better place for “ALL”
i mean to write :if we can all embrace holiness as a way of life, the world will be a better place for “ALL”
Thank you for sharing about this! I love it!
