Did You Know That You Are Perfectly Imperfect?

Apr 7, 2014 | 2 comments

I was inspired to write this new blog post by the title of Elle Varner’s cd which is, “Perfectly Imperfect.”

There’s a good chance that you didn’t know that we all are perfectly imperfect.

It’s important for you to know what this means because it will affect the perspective that you have on life.

So to start off with, let’s define what it means to be perfectly imperfect.

If you were to tell someone that they are perfectly imperfect, it would mean that you just accept them for who they are, including all of their flaws.

So imagine a good friend of yours tells you, “Oh how I hate my nose, my hair, and my laugh.”   So you respond by saying, “Oh I LOVE those things about you, you’re perfectly imperfect.”

They would then understand that while yes, your friend does have her flaws, you see her as perfect despite of her physical imperfections.

So How Are We Imperfect?

Every human being is imperfect because of sin.  We’ve all been born with this thing called “the flesh” which is our sinful nature.

Most of the world is driven by the flesh.  The world sets it’s eyes on money, fame, and beauty.

However, as Christians, we are different from the world.

When we were born again, the Holy Spirit began to dwell inside of us and now we can overcome the flesh through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank God for the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us through the narrow and difficult road.

Romans 3:23 – 24

“…For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…”

How Are We Perfect?

Every human being is perfect because we are a creation of God.  God created us in His image.

We are a reflection of God’s perfection.

We have to remember, as Christians, that God resides in us when we are saved.

The more you let your flesh die, the more you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you as God’s holy temple.

Ephesians 3: 16 – 17
“…that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith…”

The goal of every Christian should be to live a Spirit-filled life.  That’s the only way we can make sure that we are doing God’s will while here on earth.

How Should Being Perfectly Imperfect Cause You to Live?

When we realize that we are sinners saved by God’s grace, it should lead us to a place of humility.

We don’t deserve anything from God.

We don’t deserve salvation, protection,  God’s provision, or His promises.

But it’s because God is so good that He provides all these things and so much more.

The result should be a thankful heart that worships God because He alone is worthy of our praise.

So if you find yourself not as thankful as you should be, then maybe you’ve forgotten that you are perfectly imperfect.

Come to God in prayer and begin to thank Him for ALL the He has done for you.

You are imperfect but the One living inside of isn’t, and it’s because of Him that you have so much to be thankful for.
