“May the glory of the Lord endure forever; May the Lord rejoice in His works. He looks on earth, and it trembles; He touches the hills, and they smoke. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord. May sinners be consumed from earth and the wicked be no more.” – Psalms 104:31-35
Through history, when God’s people have been right before Him, they sang praises.
The book of Psalms is filled with praises written by authors like David, Solomon, and even Moses.
These hymns are filled with exhortations and personal prayers from the authors written and inspired by God.
By reading this amazing book as a part of your daily bread, it will build a beautiful relationship with the creator of our majestic universe.
In this Psalm David’s prayer provides a beautiful portrait of the almighty.
Immerse yourself in this beautiful hymn.
Can you imagine His mere glance can make an entire earth tremble, and the very mountains He created can smoke with one touch?
What difficult trials are you facing?
What mountain stands in your way?
1. Praise God For His Workmanship
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” – Psalms 139-13:16
Any biology textbook can show you how wonderful and complex the human body is.
Every cell in your body is carefully designed by God.
You don’t need to take a biology course to realize that our DNA contains almost infinite information and unique blueprints.
How wonderful it is to be able to enjoy the body God gave us!
Have you thanked the Lord today for His incredible workmanship?
2. Praise God For Satisfying Your Thirst
“Let them praise the Lord for His great love and wonderful things He has done for them. For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” – Psalms 107:8-9
This book of Psalms was originally recited at one of Israel’s religious festivals by people who knew hunger and thirst.
This was spoken by those who had returned from exile.
These people experienced Gods great love and provision in the midst of terrible famine.
Our lives are often filled with spiritual famine, emotional or financial stress.
What needs do you have now?
Whatever needs you may have, cling to this Psalm.
Ask God for that deep satisfaction that only He can bring.
3. Praise God With Other Believers
“Praise the Lord! Yes, give praise, o servants of the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord now and forever. Everywhere from east to west praise the name of the Lord. For the Lord is high above the nations; His glory is higher than the heavens.” – Psalms 113:1-4
Now more than ever we need to praise and proclaim that He is Lord of all nations, and all nationalities, from the east to the west.
This prayer calls on people from every nation and every age to bless the name of the Lord.
Praise Him for being “high above the nations” and praise Him for “His glory is higher than the heavens.”
Let’s praise Him for being Lord of all times, all places, and all people.
4. Praise God For He is Beyond Comparison
“Who can be compared with the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high? He stoops to look down on heaven and on earth. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, even the princes of his own people! He gives the childless woman a family making her a happy mother. Praise the Lord!” – Psalms 113:5-9
Have you ever tried to compare God to anything?
Who can God be compared to?
A comparison is only done when something is compared to another thing within its own category.
For example, a boxer competing with another boxer within the same weight range.
There is no one in God’s category!
Who is strong enough, for us to compare with the almighty?
How can you describe God?
By recounting what He has done for you and what He has done for His people.
Remind yourself how great He is!
5. Praise God For Keeping His Promises
“I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to My God even with my dying breath. Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there… But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.” – Psalms 146:2-6
Have you ever been let down by someone?
Has a friend or family member ever broken an important promise?
Until you experience a heartache, you will learn that you cannot depend completely on other people.
The author of this prayer declares and warns people to solely put their confidence in God, not in people, for He is always faithful.
Take a few moment to today to praise the Lord for all the promises He has kept, and all the promises He has given to you.
For He is faithful to keep them.
As you read through Psalms, consider these hymns to be part of your morning routine.
Keeping Gods promises at your fingertips and proclaim and praise the Lord for He is returning soon!
What a Beautiful read. May The Lord continue to give you the words to express His Goodness. God is so Very Very Good.
