“In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.” – Psalm 118:5
When you’re distraught what do you do? Who do you turn to? Where do you go?
Before I came to Christ, I would struggle with depression and anxiety.
How I “dealt” with distress was by smoking and drinking anything that would make the pain go away.
I didn’t care if it was unhealthy. I wanted that quick fix, that temporary deliverance.
Sure enough, when that high came back down, the pain remained.
The messed up life I was trying to run from seemed only to get more complicated.
Before I knew it, I was staggering down this slippery slope. It was a seemingly never-ending cycle of destruction, brokenness, and bondage.
The freedom I sought in the things of this world was only entrapping me in this web of distress even more.
But Praise God, I have discovered an antidote for distress that isn’t expensive, illusive, or temporary.
It isn’t found in the things of this fallen world; it’s found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
“Yes, ask me for anything in My name, and I will do it!” – John 14:14
Prayer in the life of a believer is our lifeline to God.
It’s such a powerful tool because it can be done anytime, anywhere, on any occasion, and for any reason!
As Christians, we pray because we know that God attentively listens to us, unconditionally loves us, and is faithful to answer us.
We pray to our creator because He alone can turn our mourning into joyful dancing, our brokenness into wholeness, and our bondage into freedom.
The one concern of the devil is to keep us from praying. He fears nothing from prayer-less studies, prayer-less work and religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.

How to Handle the Tough Times in Life
We live in an evil, fallen world. We’re fighting a huge spiritual battle against an army we can’t see with our eyes.
Our war is not against other people; it’s against the forces of darkness.
When hard times come, and you reach that point of seemingly no return, cry out to your Savior through prayer.
Verbally and fervently pour out your heart to your Jesus.
He knows you, He cares for you, He’ll comfort you, and He’ll answer you.
Never underestimate God’s ability because He can do anything!
The Bible reassures us time and time again that nothing is too hard for Him.
God Almighty created the entire universe in only six days.
He parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Israelites making a way of escape.
He defeated Satan and the powers of darkness and called us out of this fallen world by name!
The Bible reassures us time and time again that nothing is too hard for Him.
We can’t forget who our God truly is!
God is our provider, healer, counselor, comforter, peace, and security.
He’s our savior, redeemer, protector, faithful Father, the Good Shepherd, and the very best friend.
We’re His chosen people, and He has a good plan for us!
When we cry out to Him, when we humbly call upon His almighty name in truth, the possibilities of what He can and will do in and through our lives are endless!
What to Do When You Don’t Get What You Prayed For
You may ask for something and not get it, or pray for something and not get it answered the way you wanted.
But be encouraged, and rest in God’s sovereignty.
He knows what’s best for you, and He promises us in Psalm 84:11, “He will withhold NO GOOD THING to those who walk uprightly!”
Our lives are held in the palms of His hands, so take heart in knowing that He will not give you something that will hurt you or hinder your relationship with Him.
Sometimes as I reflect back on my life, I thank God for the prayers He did not answer the way I wanted Him.
Sure enough, He did have a better plan for me and the same goes for you too.
The Bible says in Isaiah 55:9, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
So we need to be patient because His will is perfect, and His blessings are well worth the wait.
If you’ve been praying for something and haven’t received the answer you’re hoping for, don’t lose hope or give up!
God loves you more than you will ever know and wants to bless you in extraordinary ways, so never stop praying!
Never stop believing that He can and will answer you according to His perfect will.
Choose to keep praying, keep seeking, and keep knocking because God will answer!
He will open doors, He will heal, He will intervene and He will give you a breakthrough!
We have to know more than ever before that we walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
God is at work in each and every one of His children’s lives, and He hears your prayers.
So cry out to Him today. He will give you the desires of your heart when you delight in Him.
When you surrender your ways to His ways, and your life to His will, then He won’t let you down.
“Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.” – James 5:13
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed and burdened with the things of this world or the situations you’re in, pray.
If you’re feeling joyful, thankful and full of praise, pray! Pray to your Savior because the answers you’re searching for come solely from Him.
Call on the name of the Lord for your God is greater! He will not falter, He will not fail, for He is strong to save! He will deliver, He will prevail, and He will make a way!
Study Verses: Isaiah 14:24, Psalm 37:4, Luke 11:1-13
Wow, I feel so encouraged after reading this post! Truly I have to remember that just because I don’t get what I want through prayer then that doesn’t mean that I should give up. I need to continue to pray until something happens.
Thanks for a great blog post Amanda 🙂
I was wondering if after death do we continue to pray for our loss
Hi Mona! No, the Bible says that once a person dies, that’s it. They either go directly to heaven or directly to hell based solely on what they did with Jesus. The Bible says that if you turn from your sins and put your faith in Jesus then all of your sins will be forgiven but if you reject Jesus and His free gift of salvation then you will be in hell for all eternity. I hope that helps!! Here is a good article that touches on the subject as well. =] https://www.gotquestions.org/second-chance-salvation.html

Thank you so much Peter for your comment!! I too struggle in the waiting and when things don’t go the way I think or want them to…but God is in control!! We have to remember that He’s got a good plan for us, and a good reason for either answering our prayers “yes, no or not yet”! =] God bless you!

Thank youi for this post…today found myself wanting to give up, asking why do I keep praying when God has not answered..been at it a long time and I see nothing..feeling like Thomas..I want to see something change..but thanking you again for I see I must not stop praying, must not give up..God hears me..and has a good plan for me..I have got to keep praying and trusting him…
Aw thank you so much for your reply.
Yes! Sometimes it’s so hard to keep trusting God and continuing to pray when you don’t see any immediate results. But don’t stop! Don’t stop trusting and don’t stop praying because God will answer you! He answers “yes, no, or not yet” for a good reason. We have to trust that no matter what we’re going through, He will work it all together for good! (Romans 8:28)
God is so faithful, and will come through for you. His timing is perfect and doesn’t work on our timetable. But my personal experience, I can assure you, when you look back after you’ve passed through this trial. You will see God’s hand and you will appreciate the answer He gave you. Sometimes I actually thank God for not answering my prayers the way I wanted Him to!
Whether it was about relationships or provision or whatever it was. I can look back and say, God you definitely knew what was best for me, and truly did have a plan for whatever I was going through. So be encouraged! God surely does have a plan and purpose for you as you said! Stand on His truth by reading His Word everyday, and never ever stop making your requests known to Him.
He is a God of miracles, and things can change, breakthroughs can come, and answers to your prayers can be fulfilled in a split second! So again, never loose hope! Your God is faithful and your God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above ALL you could ever ask or think!” (Ephesians 3:20)
God bless you! I’m praying for you! =]

Awesome post! I have been praying for things that God doesn’t give me and it makes me sad. Sometimes I want to give up and stop praying and trusting God altogether. But God has always been a huge part of my life since I was a child, I have seen Him in my life. just that lately He’s been too quiet.
When I prayed about a job, i knew God said NO/NOT YET when I got the regret email.
I pray for reconciliation with my ex boyfriend, when it’s a YES i will know. But how do I know that God is saying NO or NOT YET?
Hi Matilda!
Thank you so much for your comment and your encouragement! It blesses me to know that the Lord is blessing you through these blog posts. =] I can relate to you not being sure if it’s a no or not yet from God. Here is some advice for you about it! It’s what’s helped me when I felt that way too. =]
1. Do you have a peace about it?
If it’s a “yes” from God but just “not yet” then you will have peace about it. The Bible says God is not the author of confusion. And, that the enemy is always trying to deceive us and get us to make the wrong choices. We may feel like it’s God’s will and want it so badly, but it may not be what God wants for us. You have to trust Him Matilda no matter what. If it’s not His will you will not be at peace about it. You will just know it’s not right. You will feel confused and unsettled. And, you’ll feel really uneasy about it in your spirit. Obedience is the key here. It means you’re trusting God either way and are willing to obey whatever He tells you to do. Because He wants what’s best for you. So one way you’ll know if it truly is God’s will, again will be having a peace about it. The assurance it truly is from God and not the enemy’s deception or your own feelings. If it’s a relationship that is not His will, you are to break it off and not look back. But if it is God’s will for the relationship, then take the steps to make sure you both are staying pure and getting counseling and accountability to stay in His will. =]
2. Does it line up with what scripture already says?
For example, when I was in my first relationship the guy wanted to get intimate before we got married. But I knew that in God’s Word it says sex outside of marriage is not allowed. So I knew this wasn’t God’s will for me because a relationship with this guy meant disobeying what I already knew in the Bible was wrong. This is why having a prayer and devotional life are so important. God will speak directly to you about whatever it is you’re praying about. If it’s in His Word already then that is what you go off of and if it’s not, you pray and seek God’s perfect will about it. Also, getting Biblical based counseling about it will help you understand if something is God’s will or not. They can see the blind spots and red flags you can’t see and will help you make sense of it all.
3. Has God confirmed it to you in His Word?
Again stressing the importance of a devotional life, God will give you a scripture if it’s a promise truly from Him. He will also give you a scripture verse if it isn’t!! When you read it you’ll just know that its God speaking it to you. For example, when I was in a relationship that was God’s will (my current husband) God gave me the verses Revelation 3:7-8. I heard and saw it everywhere! Like 6 times! On the radio, through Pastor Jeff during his messages, through friends, in my devotion time, etc. I just knew it was God saying this was an open door from Him and His will for me. And the same will happen for you Matilda. God will speak to you directly so you’ll know if it’s His will or not. =]
“These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens” “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.” Revelation 3:7-8
4. Circumstantially, is it coming together and falling into place?
Is God bringing to pass what you’re asking Him to do? There was a man I thought God spoke to me about being my future husband…but it wasn’t His will all along. Just my heart playing tricks on me and the enemy trying to deceive me. No matter what, the door was just not opening with him. Not even a little bit! But with the man I’m married to now, I had peace about it since day 1. Also, God spoke to me about it in His Word, and the doors started opening with him. Even in regards to our wedding day. People were blessing us so we could pay for it and everything seemed to just fall into place perfectly. But again, the other guy I liked it was a total dead end all around. So really step back and ask yourself…are the doors opening or closing? This is where you place whatever it is on the alter and really surrender it in your heart to the Lord. Be content either way. If it’s God’s will it will come to pass…if it’s not God’s will it wont, meaning, He has something even better! So rest in God’s sovereignty. He will speak to you about it and He will show you that His hand is in it or not. =]
I hope that helps! Here are some other articles that may help as well. =] God bless you Matilda! I’ll be praying for you. Remember, God is your good shepherd. He will lead you where He wants you to go. Trust Him, take His hand in yours, and follow after your Leader where He may go. =]

Thank you for this post. I for one have been going through a rough patch and really about to give up. True we may never understand how God operates but at the end of the day it’s for our good. I was so close to giving up it gets hard holding on when really there seems like nothing to hold on to and for. Thanks again I will meditate on the Word you have posted and pray for a revival. You have been much help please keep ministering such word it really has stirred up my spirit.
Hi Rodney!
Wow, praise God! I’m so glad God encouraged you to not give up through this blog post. I have been there too though… =/ Those moments when you just want to quit and everything seems hopeless. But we have to remember, there is always hope with Jesus—nothing is impossible with Him. Even King David had to remind himself time and time again of God’s promises and faithfulness when he was going through hard times. “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” (1 Samuel 30:6)
So be encouraged! Stand on God’s promises, count your blessings, and write down prayers He’s already answered. Remembering how God’s been faithful before will encourage you to believe by faith He will be faithful again and again. If there is still breath in your lungs then He’s not finished with you yet. God is a God of miracles Rodney, so keep praying and believing that God will come through for you. The Bible says God is your good shepherd; He will provide for all of your needs. And, that God has a special plan for your life. A plan to prosper you, not harm you. A plan to give you hope and a future! (Jeremiah 29:11)
One day you will be in heaven where all your tears, sorrows and troubles will be wiped day. So until that day, keep praying. Keep trusting. And keep pressing forward. Remember, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, and God will complete the good work He first began in you! God bless you Rodney. =] Romans 8:28 for you!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I was searching for the answers and just typed why god doesn’t answer when I ask something for myself and answers when I pray for others and I got your post. The waiting is just getting extremely painful and I’m tired, exhausted, hopeless and stopped asking for myself…it’s not that I don’t pray or anything… I do it but just don’t ask few things just to be in peace. I don’t see it or don’t understand it but God knows…he’s the master creator and he knows best. I loved your post.
Thank you so much Rashmi. Yes sometimes it is so hard to wait on the Lord to answer our prayers. I too struggle in this area. But yes, you have to remember God is in control and will answer you if it’s in His perfect will and His perfect timing. I encourage you to rest in His sovereignty and stand on the promises in His Word. Don’t grow weary or get bitter or allow the doubt to choke out God’s truth. Praying for you! Lamentations 3:22-25 for you!

Thank you for this great message. We have been going through some very difficult times this past couple of years. There is this wanting to control the situation and make something happen, but to the material view, we appear and feel stuck. I have finally just completely surrendered to God asking that He show us the right way, His way. I can’t seem to get us where we need to be, but He can. Hopefully, leaning completely on God to show us, guide us and remove this torment from our lives will help us move forward, relax more, and deliver us from what has been mentally and emotionally draining. All prayers are greatly appreciated in our way forward.Thank you again
Hi Chris, thank you so much for being transparent are sharing your struggles. I too can identify with wanting to control everything! I think as Christians one of the hardest things is to simple “be still and know that He is God.” (Psalm 46:10) We tend to rather live by the motto of the world, “If you want something done right you do it yourself…” But we have to change our thinking. We have to give all of our cares, concerns, and to-do lists to God because He alone has the power and might to accomplish His will. When we try to…we only mess things up. But when we choose to lay it all down at the foot of the cross amazing things happen. We have peace that surpasses understanding, and we see God’s hand at work in the situation in a powerful way. So be encouraged that you’re not alone. And, walk by faith knowing that when you do surrender it to God, that He will come through for you. Remember, “the just shall live by faith”….and God’s “yoke is easy and His burden is light”. (Romans 1:17 & Matthew 11:28-30). I’ll be praying Chris that God directs your steps and shows you His will for everything you’re going through.
Proverbs 16:9 for you!

Amanda,
You are truly anointed! Every word in this post is spot on for the season I am currently in and even the replies to other comments are a complete blessing to my life. Through this post I was able to receive the revelation of my life. I spent most of the latter part of my day thanking and praising God for such a gift. I had been searching for answers and by divine design I happened to find this by a google search. I pray for God to continue to work in your life and that you will continue to a blessing to people. You have truly been a blessing to me. I’m not sure we will ever cross paths but know I am always praying for you. Thank you for allowing God to use you. Be blessed!
Hi Phalone, Thank you SO much for your kind words. It’s all wisdom from God that I’m able to write these blog posts. =] It encourages me so much that God has spoken to you and encouraged you! Thank you for your prayer and again, for such a sweet comment. Praying God continues to speak to you and directs your steps. Jeremiah 29:11 for you!

Dear Amanda,
I love this blog post so much that I read it many times. God is truly using you to reach to us and I pray for you that He may continue to show His favor on you.
Today, I am just so excited! I have been praying about something for almost a year and a half, and sometimes I felt bad about why it was not happening to me, why God was so quiet. Why I was going through everything. I decided not to ask God WHY. I decided to try something I should always do; DARE TO TRUST HIM.
I would like to proclaim that God is faithful. He answered my prayer and exceeded my expectations.
Anyone on this blog and feels like God does not answer your prayers soon enough, DARE TO TRUST HIM. Just try that, have complete and unfailing faith in Him. Let go and let God. Read His word and speak it into your life. Even Jesus went through a hard time and He asked God to take the cup of suffering away from him, but again not his will but God’s will be done. So do not feel bad for what you are going through. Let go and let God. Just dare to trust Him.
I have been reading God’s word a lot and I get to understand that God has His own way of doing things. For instance, when the Israelites cried to Him to save them, I don’t think they ever imagined how He would do it. But He did, In HIS OWN WAY.
In the same way, in my life, I thought, I can’t do anything about this so I let go completely and asked Him to guide me. Oh and He amazed me! He truly is faithful.
Hang in there, DARE TO TRUST HIM.
May God bless you so much Amanda.
Matilda
Awww That is so amazing Matilda thank you so much for sharing your testimony of God’s faithfulness! Yes! Many times when we least expect it, God blows us away with an answer to our prayers. You are so right when you said, “His ways are not our ways”. (Isaiah 55:8-9) Sometimes we think we know what’s best and then God steps in and takes us a completely different way that turns out to be even better! Praying that God continues to give you a hunger for His Word and continues to speak to you in a powerful way. =] Proverbs 3:5-6 for you!

Hi Ericho Samuel, thank you so much for your comment. =] God bless you too!
Thank you so much for this. I needed the reassurance of God’s ability to answer prayers. I’ve been praying and praying for employment. I recently lost my job and it has been extremely hard on my family. I’ve had so many interviews and have submitted several resumes with no positive result. I am concerned that we will eventually lose our home as well as all things that it takes to maintain a household. I continue to try and stay strong, but I cry and say to God ” help us, we can’t do this without you”. I just don’t feel he hears me. I don’t know what to do although I know giving up is not an option. My family needs me. I have contemplated suicide because of the discouragement, but can’t imagine how it would hurt my 5 year old son.. Not to mention its a weak way to go out. In desperate need of prayer. Stacy
Hi Stacy,
Thank you so much for being open about what you’re going through. Please know that you’re not alone. There have been times when I felt so low and discouraged that thoughts of suicide crossed my mind too but like you, I have a son to take care of and a family that loves me and needs me. Please never ever give into that temptation or those thoughts okay. Because God and God alone should be the one who takes us home to heaven in His perfect timing. Those moments you feel it’s hopeless stop and pray. Rebuke those lies from the devil and encourage yourself in the Lord with God’s Word. Read it every single day Stacy even for 15 minutes. I promise you, God’s Word is powerful and will give you the strength you need to keep pressing on. God chose you by hand to be your son’s mommy and no one else can do a better job at raising him than you.
Nothing is too hopeless or impossible for God. He will come through for you I just know it so don’t lose heart. Don’t look at how big the problems are…look at how big your God truly is! Keep praying and trusting and taking steps of faith. God will not let you down. Keep putting your resume out there and believe by faith that God will open up a door that no man can shut. It’s during these situation…these trials…that we see God’s hand more than any other time. Because we’re desperate for Him and are relying fully on Him. Take this season one day at time…moment by moment. Don’t be anxious about tomorrow…because God’s Word says, He already knows what you need and He will provide for you.
One of my favorite passages in scripture is Matthew 6:25-34.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
So when thoughts of hopelessness, fear, worry, or depression come…read this passage of scripture over and over again. Reminding yourself God is still on the throne and He promises to provide all that you need. He loves you so much and created you for a distinct purpose. You have to trust Him completely and give all these anxieties to Him. He doesn’t want you to carry it all yourself.

Hi Amanda! Thank you for sharing your story, very inspiring indeed! I have been praying for something about a special man in my life — that our relationship will be restored and for us to be in each other’s lives again. I’ve been praying for it the past weeks and I am beyond thankful that God grants my prayers little by little (he grant my prayers of having a communication with that man). My hopes are getting high every time my prayers are being answered. But apart from just having a communication with the person, I am really praying that we will restore our relationship and start all over again. I am still waiting for God’s answer to that. I honestly wanted to give up on praying about it cos it seems like the person isn’t interested in me anymore or just treats me as a normal friend, but a part of me still believes that my prayers would be granted. I still have faith that God will make a way for the both of us cos I have seen how He answered my prayer for the past weeks. I pray that He will grant the deepest desire of my heart.
Hi Marguerite,
Thank you so much for sharing about what’s been going on in your life. That’s so exciting God has been answering your prayers. =] But remember, if this man isn’t God’s perfect will for you, you have to trust God enough to let him go. I was praying about a man for 2 years!! But it turned out to not be the man God had for me. It was really hard to allow the door to be closed but looking back, I am so glad it did. I am married now to my husband and see God’s hand in it. The other man, it wouldn’t have been good at all! Because we weren’t equally yoked. Meaning, we weren’t on the same level spiritually. So yes! Keep praying and praying and never cease from praying. But also make sure you’re sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The doors God opens no man can close. And the doors God closes no man can open! So if this is God’s perfect will for your life…then He will open the door for it in His perfect timing. But if not, then He has someone even better for you!! That is why it’s so so important to walk by faith not by sight. Our feelings and emotions, especially as women, get us off track sometimes. So make sure you’re also reading the Bible every single day even for 15 minutes a day. God will speak to you directly and encourage you as you wait for His perfect will. =] You’re so right! “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4. Praying God guides you and blesses you with the godly man your heart desires. =]
In His Grace,
Amanda
Proverbs 3:5-6 for you! =]
Thanks for the feedback, Amanda! Really enlightens me. This man that I’ve been praying for the past weeks is a godly man. He is a Christian and is really devoted to God. That is why, sometimes, I can’t understand why God didn’t let us stay in each other’s lives, but I know that He has a reason for everything. I just hope and pray that there is still a way for the both of us. I really miss talking to that person most especially when we have deep conversations about God. He actually brought me closer to God, and encourages me to read scriptures everyday. Nevertheless, I will keep on trusting God, He always has His ways. I still believe that in the end, He will not fail me and has a bigger plan for me. Thank you also for encouraging me to read the Bible. Apart from praying everyday, I will now try to read the Bible every day.
I hope that I get to meet and talk to a godly person like you more often! 🙂
Aww you’re so sweet Marguerite!
Thank you so much!! =] Sometimes it is God’s perfect will just not His perfect timing. So be patient and trust that if it is in His plans for your life then it will come to pass one day. And if not, then God will show you and bring you someone else in His perfect timing too. =] The man I was dating at first was also a Christian and a lot like you described the man you’re praying about. But he still wasn’t God’s best for me. So sometimes even Christian relationships aren’t God’s perfect will!!! I know it may be confusing sometimes…but this is where you must “be still and know that He is God.”. =]
Be encouraged though because again if this man is of God then it will all come together, but if not, you will be joined with the man God has ordained for you. And God’s best is worth the wait! At the time I didn’t understand why God was leading me away from that man i was with. Again, a Christian man!! But looking back i see how it wasn’t good for me after all..in the long run. Because the man God chose for me to marry was so much better!! =] “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Ps. 37:4 So again be encouraged okay! Keep seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and ALL these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33). “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” =] Ps. 84:11

Probably dangerous for me to even try to post amongst such faithful people. Em, I found this trying to research how to have any faith when one has prayed for a lifetime. Literally, I am in my 50s, and feel like my prayer was ever answered. I was certainly raised in a Christian home, but as an adult have felt more and more as I get older that it’s all bs (no disrespect to true believers intended). We all have our limits, and I’m just tired. Isn’t it okay to give up? And, yes I’ve heard it all before; God wants what’s best, he’ll never hurt you, he will give you some type of blessing even better than you imagined, he’s protecting you by not answering, blah, blah, blah… But, I am tired of the empty feeling inside and just spinning my wheels. I look forward to the peace of nonexistence.
Hi Charles,
I’m so sorry you’re feeling so empty and low. =/ I have definitely had seasons where I felt the same. And just wanted to give up. But you can’t. You have to keep pressing forward. If nothing else Charles, as a follower of Jesus Christ you have the hope of eternal life in heaven. The Bible says in Matthew 16:26, “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” So just because God hasn’t answered your prayer the way you wanted Him to…doesn’t mean He doesn’t love you or care about you. Sometimes we do want things that will hurt us in the end….and God cares more about your eternal destination than your comfort zones here on earth. Think about the Christians who got into a car accident and are now disabled. Or the ones who lost a child! Or the ones who lost everything. Should they just throw in the towel too? Because life here on earth isn’t what they expected or wanted it to be? Of course not! Because again, this life here on earth is only temporary. None of us our promised tomorrow. None of us were ever promised all our hopes and dreams would come true. But we were promised heaven. A place where all of our tears will be wiped away. A place with streets of gold and exceedingly abundantly more than we could ever ask or think. So please reconsider walking away from God. Choose to rather surrender your life to Him completely. Repent of any sin and ask for His forgiveness and I promise you…things will begin to change. Not overnight…maybe they will even get worst at first…but God will begin a deeper work in the depths of your heart. He will fill you with His Holy Spirit and change you from the inside out. He will provide for you. He will answer your prayers according to His perfect will for your life. And He will write your name is the Lamb’s Book of Life securing your eternal salvation. Satan is a liar. He wants only to seek, kill, and destroy you. But God loves you. Jesus said He came to give you life…and that more abundantly. As a born again Christian Charles, there is always hope…and the possibilities truly are endless when you place your life in God’s hands. The emptiness your feeling will only be able to be filled by God…nothing in this world will be able to fill it. Trust me, I have tried. I tried to fill my hole with drugs, sex, relationships, alcohol, parties, etc. But nothing left me satisfied. And that’s how satan and this world are—temporary highs and a false sense of joy and security. Because only God can fill you overflowing. Only God can leave you fully satisfied no matter what you have or don’t have materially. God wills for you only good Charles but we live in a fallen world. A world temporarily controlled by the devil! Its corrupt, evil, and in rebellion against God. But the Good News is Jesus Christ is coming back again! He is coming as the lion of the tribe of Judah. He will rapture His church (us) home to heaven and bring judgement to this fallen world. Satan and his minion of demons and fallen angels will burn in the lake of fire…and all those who don’t believe in Jesus and repent of their sins will spend all eternity separated from God in hell. But as Christians we will be in heaven! So you see when you look at the bigger picture…salvation is the most important thing in this life and the next one. God is not a genie in a bottle granting all our wishes and requests, but He is faithful. He is faithful to answer each and every prayer of His kids either a yes, no, or not yet. Has God told me no before? Of course He has! But looking back I thank Him for not answering me the way I wanted. Because He had something better in store for me. That is where, “trusting in the Lord with all your heart” comes in. And, “not leaning on your own understanding.” You have to keep an eternal perspective…and not blame God for all that’s going on in your life and the world. Think of Job. A man in the bible…he was righteous and loved God. But satan took everything away from him. His kids all died. His lost all he had…but in the end check out what happened,
“Job scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery as he sat among the ashes. His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong.” (Job 2:8-10)
And then he also said in the end, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!” (Job 1:21)
So you see Charles, life here on earth was never meant to be perfect. Because we are but pilgrims passing through on our way to eternity in heaven. Give God a second chance. As He has given us second chances…and 3rd chances…and will always give us forgiveness when we ask Him to. Surrender your life to Him completely. Cry out to Him. Be transparent with Him. Repent of any sin and trust in Him with all your heart. Read His Word every single day for even just 15 minutes…and I guarantee you…your life will radically change. Praying for you. If you ever want to call here and speak to a pastor for prayer or for any questions, don’t hesitate to call 310-352-3333. Jesus loves you so much He died for you Charles. I encourage you to purpose in your heart to keep pressing forward…and to never quit.

James 1 for you! Try and read the whole chapter when you a have a chance. =] =]
I prayed to God for 6 years. I tried to be patient and begged him and told Him what I did not want to happen. It happened. I’m not even asking for anything major. It doesn’t take that long to answer a prayer. You built this entire planet in less than a week. So that be patient is some crap to me. I don’t know why God seem like he just put me on hold and busy with everyone else. Everyone else has progressed except me no matter how hard I try. The people with me, the people behind me and the people behind them. I’m like yo what am I doing wrong. I know what I want out of life. And I don’t want to give my life to him just to be successful. It’s people that don’t even believe in God and are more successful than the people that do. So that’s not the reason. I’m tired and I don’t know what else to do because praying isn’t and hasn’t been working.
Praying for you. God is preparing you for something greater. Do not worry! Heaven is our home NOT here.
Hi J,
I’m sorry you feel so discouraged in your walk with God and well, it sounds like your whole life in general. =[ You have to remember that “to everything, there is a season”. One of my favorite passages in Ecclesiastes 3. It reminds me that nothing I’m going through this side of heaven is for forever. Because like Jason commented…our true home is in heaven. You have to have a light touch to this world J because it won’t last forever. I think of the people born blind….or those who can’t even walk and think wow…why would God allow them to suffer like that! But then God reminds me…because sin entered this world…it’s fallen. It will never be perfect. Bad things will happen to ‘good’ people…and life sometimes will just seem to be miserable. But again, it will not be like that forever. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ then you are never ever truly hopeless no matter how hopeless it may seem. God has reserved a spot for you in heaven where every single tear will be wiped away. Everything that is evil and broken and corrupt and miserable will cease to be. So please…be encouraged! I don’t know why you’re having such a hard time in life but I do know God loves you and is good. Everything works together for good to those who love God…those who are called according to His purposes!! (Romans 8:28). I think about Joseph in the Bible and how he was thrown into the pit by his brothers…sold into slavery…worked long and hard but held his integrity then he was falsely accused and thrown into prison! Even when he didn’t even do it! Then he was in prison for what seemed like forever and then it all started to turn around. God elevated him to power….as second in command to Pharoh…he ended up saving his brothers and his family…those very people who beat him up and betrayed him…and he did great things for the kingdom of God and His people. So you see….Joseph had every right to complain and quit…but he didn’t. He chose to trust God no matter what and God ended up turning all the bad around for good. The same happened with Job…and Paul…and so many others in the Bible. So please know you’re not alone in your sufferings. You’re not alone in your let downs and hopelessness. God is with you no matter what…and truly does have a plan for your life. (Jeremiah 29:11) He has a distinct purpose for absolutely everything He gives you or takes away from you. Your eyes need to be looking up to heaven because again….this fallen and corrupt world is not your forever home. You are but a pilgrim passing through. Maybe a new season of blessings is right around the corner. Or maybe it will get worse. I don’t know. But I do there is always hope with God. Keep praying J. Keep choosing to trust Him with all of your heart. Choose to walk in obedience to His Word and really surrender your life to Him completely. “No good thing will God withhold from those who walk uprightly” Ps. 84:11. “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33. “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10. No matter how fierce the storms may get…He won’t let them sink you…no matter how hot the fire gets…He won’t let it burn you. You will have peace in the midst of the trials and tribulations of life that surpasses all of your own understanding. He will give you joy, comfort, faith, hope, grace, strength, etc. etc. etc. if you simply ask Him to. Don’t give up on God J. And don’t ever quit. Remember…the best is yet to come…
Praying for you!

Hmmmmmmmmm………………………..I actually laughed (with painful and heavy heart)at J’s comment not for fun but a heart that understanding exactly how J feels and I am in the same position or even more because it just made me see that I am not alone facing the same situation. Pls don’t be offended because I said I laughed. wow!!! its all over the world, I am not the only one struggling(its like Elijah/Elisha, when he told God that he is the only prophet left and God told him that’s not true and told him about other prophet he has perverse for himself – God actually opened m eyes to tell me that I am not the only one) my heart is full of pain right now as I am typing this comment. I have gotten to a point that I don’t know what to do and I battle/ struggle not be depressed, suicidal, give in to frustrations and fear of losing it completely. I am really tired and exhausted but I only know God he is all I have to help. Your posts are encouraging, thanks. Pls, pray with me, I have been praying for God’s help in searching for a life partner( I have been disappointed so many times) a better job so that I can settle my bills and my family to be together once again and I’ve been praying for as long as I can remember and even went for deliverance thinking it may be a spiritual attack and all but its still same. pls remember Esther in your prayer for strength to remain in God’s love!!!
thank you

Hi Esther,
Thank you so much for being so transparent. I can totally relate to you and J too. I too sometimes struggle with depression and even get thoughts of suicide but we cannot allow them to defeat us or paralyze us. We must never ever give in to the devil’s lies and schemes because that’s exactly what they are. We have to remember that just as we have a God who loves us…there is a devil who hates us. Who wants to seek, kill, and destroy us. (John 10:10-29) But we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us! (Romans 8:37). So you see a huge spiritual battle is going on. Jesus wanted to give us life and that more abundantly…and satan who wants to devour us. But the good news is…we are on the winning side as Christians! The Bible says that No weapons formed against us will prosper. And we go from victory to victory with Jesus. That’s because He literally gives us His supernatural strength by the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome temptations and persevere through all the warfare and attacks of the enemy. Like I told J, this fallen world is not our forever home. We have to keep our eyes on that which is above…storing up treasures in heaven not here on earth. Because again life here on earth is only temporary. For people who don’t know Jesus…what they have here on earth is as good as its ever going to get for them…and if they live let’s say 80 years….they have 80 years of wealth and prestige and power…but then will spend all eternity…forever and ever and ever in hell where its completely miserable! But for Christians going to heaven….the best is yet to come! Life here on earth for however long we live….is the worst it will ever get for us! Because we’re spending all eternity in heaven with Jesus…walking down streets of gold…never ever suffering again! Can I get an AMEN to that?!?! So you see….it’s all about having the right perspective. Staying in prayer and in God’s Word will give you the strength and perspective you need to get through the trials and difficulties of life. But also Esther remember that God is a God of miracles! He can change it ALL around in a split second!! That’s why we never lose hope that things can totally change when we add God to the equation through prayer. Nothing is impossible for Him. And nothing is too hard for Him, Esther. He loves you so much He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you….”how much more will He freely give you all things?” (Romans 8:32) So hang onto Jesus okay and please be encouraged. You’re never alone. And chances are there are tons of people going through the same trials and situations as you. I am here for you and will pray for you, okay. Psalm 37:4 for you!

And what about many of us good innocent men nowadays that really wanted a good wife to settle down with? And why hasn’t that happened?
Hi Paul, I think you left another comment on a different page. I’ll copy paste what I wrote you there just in case you didn’t get it. =] God bless you!! – Amanda Psalm 37:4
Please see below!!
Hi Paul,
There is a singleness talked about in the Bible but it sounds like to me…you don’t have this gift. People who have it truly have absolutely no desire to get married and have the family that you clearly desire to have. I was single for a long time and didn’t want to be. I prayed for 6 years and waited and waited for God to give me a husband. And you know what…a year and a half ago He did! He brought me my husband when I was least expecting it. On a missions trip in New York! So please don’t lose heart that you will never get married. Chances are, God has actually placed that specific desire in your heart so He can one day fulfill it. Maybe your wife is still getting prepared by God for you…or maybe God is still preparing you for her? Personally speaking….if God answered my prayer for a husband when I first started praying for one it would have honestly been a disaster for both of us. 6 years ago…we both just weren’t ready for marriage. And even now, it’s so much harder than I ever thought it would be. So be encouraged. There are so many single women here at church still waiting to get married just like you. Be patient and really wait for God’s perfect will in this okay. Serve Him and focus on becoming the best husband you can be and I promise you, when you and your wife are both ready God will open that door He’s preordained for you all along. Keep praying for a wife and a family and keep trusting His perfect timing. A brother here at church was praying and praying for a wife and a family too. He is in his 40’s and was never married and was losing hope. And then bam! Seemingly out of nowhere God brought him his wife and they’ve been married about a year and even have a little baby. So you see…you’re not alone and you’re not hopeless. Keep focusing on serving God and walking in obedience to His Word and He will give you the desires of your heart. =] Trust me…He did this exact thing for me!! Psalm 37:4 for you.

I prayed and believed GOD would heal my only child..
He took him to heaven..
I know that heaven is the best answer..
But I am alone..no legacy
No HOPE.
No future on this earth.
GOD HAS knocked the prayer out of me.
I get on my knees say the LORD’S prayer.
Praise and thank HIM just for WHO HE IS.
I see HIS power..and know HE is GOD..
But fail to see HIM as a loving Father.
He seems cold and distant…i feel hated and despised…thrown in the dumpster if life..With GOD just saying…next…
Life gies over and over…if you are lucky..you are blessed..
Nothing makes any sense after the loss of an only child.
Especially when you know and heard and saw many of my son’s prayers..
My life has been hopeless ..i am cursed..
And the blood if JESUS.diesnt seem to matter for me..
All I hear in my heart is vengeance is mine i will re pay…and HE has..
No mercy..no grace..no forgiveness.
satan, has won everything I hold dear to my heart..
I get on my knees and say HOLY SPIRIT,pray my brokeness..there are no words just groans..
The funny thing is…
I know I am from heaven💔😢.
Hi Deanie,
I am so so sorry for your loss. My only child is my 8-year-old son and the thought of losing him is horrible!! Pastor Greg Laurie lost his son as well. Please copy and paste these links. Him and his wife share hope and how you’re not alone in your grief and suffering. If you ever need someone to talk to…we have pastors and women in leadership who can meet with you or speak with you over the phone free of charge to pray with you and encourage you during this very difficult time. You can call the church office at 310-352-3333. Praying for you Deanie. May God give you grace, hope, comfort, and peace during this time. He loves you so much and has a plan for your life. What happened to your son is horrible but praise God you will see him again in heaven.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet Him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord, Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

I had unbelieving parents and these four years had been tough. I got hated by family and relatives for my faith. I prayed and there seems to be no way out. I tried to resolve this amicably but to no success. I am at the point where I don’t know what else to do.

I don’t know what to do with my life anymore. I’m so down. I’ve failed my family especially my mother not only once but twice. I’m such a failure.
I’ve failed my engineering board exam twice. The first time was October 21-22 last year, and lately last April 4-5 2018. I always pray. Trusted him. Always try my best to do good things to everyone since I was a kid because that’s what my mother taught me. She always bring me in church for mass, and to the Christian groups for church service. But still I failed.
My first board exam attempt was last october. I did my very best. Put all my effort to study early till late evening. Pray hard, and trust him. Philippians 4:13 was my power pill everytime I’m so down. Then the exam came and a few days after the result. It was really painful for me and my mother to not see my name on the list. We were really broken hearted. It takes a month or two for me to decide to move on and take the exams again.
Everything feels fine. I now study without pressure. It was so easy to learn somethjng new, I had answered the questions which I cant answer last boards. Everything was smooth. Every time we go to church and church service the topic and the bible verse is all about faith and trust and that my time is now at the lord will answer my prayer request. So I was really motivated with the word of God. I study hard and pray hardest. I use to relax now than my first attempt. I trust him even more than before. Put all my faith in him, and finally when the exam came. I feel so motivated. First subject was so easy for me ( I think) the second one was hard but Still I trusted him. Second day was the hardest but I know he will guide me. Everytime I answe I always pray. Then the other. Then yesterday, the result came. Still my name wasn’t on the list.
All I did was cry. I felt betrayed honestly tho I know I shouldnt. I trusted him so much. But what now? Where I am.? Don’t know what to do. I cant even go outside and talk to my friends and my mentor in review center. Don’t know if I should take the board exams again or to start working now and never take the exams again, because maybe He will fail me again.

I was thinking why would God put me into this? Is he pranking me? It was so painfull err.
I really don’t know if that right time will came to me. Like what they always said.
Put all my trust in the Lord? Yes, I did. But thanks to him, nothing happened.
He knows the desire of our heart. Then why he didn’t know what was mine?
Does he feel hurt when he sees me I’m hurting now? Or he was just up there looking at my agony? And smiling? Sorry guys, I was just really broken hearted now. I fail my mother, I promised her that I will able to pass this exams for her and it was my present for her birthday. And tadaaaaa! Failed.
I’m praying that He should take my life now knowing that my life don’t have any worth.

What to do with my life now?
Should I start working, and take exams later?
Take the exams again?
Or start working never take the exams.
Attending review classes was coslty. Not only effort was wasted but also money.
He was God, everything belongs to him. Why he didn’t give me the license, I know it was just a small thing for him. Didn’t I dserve to pass? Did I sinned so bad during my past life? Or simply he doesn’t care for me and he has no plan in answering my prayers. Hahaha.
