The transition from adolescence to adulthood is exciting. But let’s be real—it can also feel like drinking from a firehose. Suddenly, we’re out on our own and faced with life-defining questions.
Where should I work? Who should I marry? How should I spend my time? What is my world view?
The catalyst for answering all those questions is to first address the most important one of all—what was I made for? Or better yet, who was I made for?
That person is Jesus. And your purpose is to follow Him.

We’re a community of young adults united by a shared mission: to glorify Christ and follow Him fully. Young adults today are inundated with societal pressures, temptations, and countless distractions.
That’s why YAL is a come-as-you-are ministry rooted in authenticity, transparency, and real transformation. No matter who you are or where you’re from, YAL offers a safe space to deepen your faith and unlock your calling.

LEARNING THE WORD:
We believe that the Bible is the single source of truth for a Christ-centered life so we’re committed to learning and living it out.
INVESTING INTO RELATIONSHIPS:
We believe that fellowship helps fuel our Christian walk so we strength our relationships by doing life together.
FOLLOWING THE WAY OF CHRIST:
We believe that Christ lived a perfect life and as His followers, we strive to, imperfectly, emulate His ways.
ENGAGE OUR WORLD:
We believe that we’re called to go and spread the gospel so we engage our world, both locally and globally.

Our nation is seeing a sharp decline in Millennials and Gen-Z attending church and identifying with organized religion. Now more than ever, it’s crucial that young adults plug into a strong faith community and be a light in a dark world, living and sharing the good news of Jesus.
34% of Gen-Z don’t identify with any religion
11% of Gen-Z identify as born-again Christians
66% of Gen-Z Christians don’t attend church
4% of Gen-Z hold a biblical world view
Meet Pastor Troy
Pastor Troy began his pastoring journey in Southwest Philadelphia. He co-founded a residential discipleship ministry for men that eventually turned into a thriving urban church. During his 10 years serving in the inner-city, he also graduated with a degree in Biblical studies, got married, had two children, and discipled countless young men to get clean and surrender their lives to Christ. His heart for teaching the Word and discipling young people brought him to Los Angeles to lead the young adults pastor at Calvary LIFE.

FAQs
What does a YAL service look like?
We open with time in worship and testimony and then dig into the Word and discussion.
What if I just passed the age limit?
While we won’t prohibit you from attending if you’re just over 30, we will enforce the age restrictions in certain cases.
Will I be asked to pray out loud or share my testimony?
Everything is completely optional and voluntary but we ask that you’re respectful and courteous to those who are sharing.
How large is the YAL ministry?
We see an average of 60 – 70 people every Friday
Is childcare provided?
While we’re not currently offering child care, if you’ll need child care, please talk to one of the leaders.
What other ways does YAL socialize?
We regularly go out to eat as a group after service and host pot lucks, friendsgivings, beach hangouts, and more throughout the year. We also have a WhatsApp group to share and engage in.
